Fourth of July, Summer fun, and Surgery

We found this little fake spider and hung it from the light.  Quinn called it the Itsy Bitsy spider and had so much fun with it hanging there, batting it around and such. :)

For the Fourth of July we ended up getting tickets to Stadium of Fire.  The performers were Carly Rae Jepson (Parker likes some of her songs, so was excited) and Kelly Clarkson.

They had a plane fly over the stadium and a man parachuted out and landed in the middle of the stadium.  It was very cool to watch!

Some dancers did a performance.  One of their dances included these metalic tubes.  It was SO cool to watch!

Not good pictures at all, but this is Carley Rae Jepsen:

And Kelly Clarkson:

And of course, amazing fireworks:

I made Red, white, and blue cinnamon rolls:

Our friend and neighbor threw a had a fun birthday party with all the neighborhood
families.  Josh participated in the frozen t-shirt contest.  They had to be the first to get a frozen
t-shirt on.  :)  Josh and our friend Cameron (first guy) nearly tied, but I think Cameron barely got it on first.

One of our weekly playdates at the park with friends:

Quinn and more of his Itsy-bitsy spiders. :)

Look!  A little tomatillo is growing.

After meeting with Bryce's cleft palate team (he sees them once a year), they decided that he would really benefit from a surgery called Sphincter Pharyngoplasty - another palate surgery.  They really thought it would help his speech which has been very nasally sounding, and help him be more able to pronounce his words.

This was the first surgery Bryce had had for a long time where he needed to stay at the hospital.  The surgery went really well.  Here he is after he got out of recovery and they brought him to his room.

They had to put arm restraints on his arm because there was a tube they had to leave in his nose to keep things open until the swelling went down and they didn't want him to pull it out.

Here is a close up of the tube in his nose.  Poor guy!

The next day, brothers and Dad came to visit.  They brought him a couple of puzzles (Bryce's favorite).
He was so excited and had them put together in no time.

Quinn sitting with Bryce.  Bryce's oxygen levels weren't doing to well, so he had to keep the oxygen close by his face (he hated it!).

Isaac visiting with Bryce:

At Primary Children's Hospital the kids get a menu and room service.
Bryce was allowed to try any soft foods, although he ended up not eating much
and just doing his tube feeds.  They had all kinds of foods on the menu!

We tried scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, applesauce, and Jell-O.  He ate a few bites of each.

Trying to get Bryce out of bed, I let him sit in the chair and play the iPad for awhile.

We also had a visit from Aunt Lisa, Uncle David, and Davis.  They brought Bryce the two bottom balloons and the top one was the one from Dad and brothers.

He ended up staying for 3 nights, and we finally got his oxygen levels to where they were okay with us taking him home.  They hoped he would do better once home.  Once we got home though he was super lethargic and just really not doing well.  He had us pretty worried!  I ended up taking him in to see our doctor and they discovered he had pneumonia!  Poor little guy.  His neck was super stiff from the positioning during surgery too.  It took him a couple of weeks to really be back to himself.  :(
