4th of July

For the Fourth of July, we decided to get up early and head up to the parade in Provo. I'm glad we ended up going. It was worth the hassle of getting everyone out of the house early. It was fun to see the parade and the weather was perfect - just overcast enough that it wasn't too hot. I always wonder if it is dumb to take pictures of the parade, because it just doesn't seem as fun to look at pictures as it was to see them in the actual parade. But then I think of the photos my Grandma Bell has shown me of all the old parades from when my dad was a kid and they are SO cool to look at and see how things were back in that day. I hope my kids and grandkids will enjoy seeing the photos I take and seeing how things were in this day and age.

Quinn and I getting ready to walk over to the parade.

Grandma & Grandpa Bell's Boss (as Isaac & Parker call Smokey) LOL!

They seemed to have a 60's Cartoon theme going on with the balloons:
Scooby Doo
Isaac loved the Star Wars Troopers:
And Darth Vader:

After the parade we used a gift card and a coupon that we had and went to Chili's for lunch, then we headed back home. For dinner that night, Josh fired up the fire pit and we roasted some hot dogs.

For dessert I made some red, white, and blue layered Jell-O cups. They were fun! the blue layer had fresh blueberries and the red layer had fresh strawberries. Yum! Josh has been on a special health diet recently and can't eat sugar for now, so he made his own layered cup. He used flax meal instead of Jello. It turned out pretty yummy too!

Josh's treat:

After it got a little dark, we went out to the driveway to light some fireworks. This year the state of Utah had some new allowances with fireworks. We didn't buy any of the aerial fireworks, but neighbors on all sides of us had them going, and I have to say, there were some pretty cool ones! We had fun watching them go off. It was a great day and we had a lot of fun spending the day together as a family and celebrating the birthday of our great nation! :)

...Oh, and one more of baby Quinn. Three months old now!
