4th of July
We had a nice 4th of July this year. We didn't end up making it to the parade this year. We wanted to save spots in front of Josh's massage place in Provo, but people were insane this year and we didn't get them in time. SO, we didn't see the parade, but we did go up and walk around the Freedom Festival. We were excited because they had a Red Cross truck set up at the festival for people to donate blood and we've been wanting to do that. Josh was able to donate, but I wasn't because I had used my asthma inhaler that day! Oh well, maybe next time. Isaac was super excited because he was able to get his picture taken with some Star Wars characters (his latest obsession). Other than that we mainly just walked around and looked at the booths they set up.
After the festival we went home and made our 4th of July dinner! We made some coconut grilled chicken, corn on the cob, watermelon, onion rings, and pretzel Jell-0 salad made to look like a flag. We also had some sparkling lemonade just for fun. :)
After dinner, the kids were SO excited and could not wait for it to get dark enough to do fireworks, so we started them out with some sparklers, pop-its and a Whistling Pete (the really loud ones - my favorite!)
When it started getting a little darker, the neighbors came over and Josh lit some fireworks. We did tons more sparklers and the neighbors gave everyone some glow sticks. It was all a lot of fun. We had a nice night!
