Bryce's Surgery

I just wanted to give a quick update on Bryce's surgery. We got back from our vacation on Thursday night and had to take Bryce in for his surgery Friday morning. It all went well. The plastic surgeon removed his lip pits and sent them in to be biopsied. The ENT checked on his tubes and it turned out to be perfect timing as one tube was completely out and the ear was already full of fluid. The other tube was partially out too, so he drained everything and placed a new set of tubes. While he was under they also did an ABR hearing test. Apparently he had some obstructive hearing loss from the fluid, but they tested what I think he called sensory -neuro hearing and he appeared to have some very mild hearing loss. The ENT said that it's not always accurate in the operating room (so when IS it accurate??). SO he wants to perform yet another hearing test in about a month (awake, not sedated). So hopefully we'll get some answers on that eventually.

So anyway, we went in for surgery at 9:15 Friday morning and didn't leave until almost 4:00, so it was a long day for such simple procedures. On the way home Bryce actually BIT out some of the stitches on his lip with his teeth! They gave us arm restraints, but it didn't matter because he figured out how to get them out anyway. We called his surgeon and he said that he did some deep tissue stitches so since he only pulled out the superficial stitches he thought they would be okay. We were so worried we'd have to bring him back in and have him sedated again!
